What data Maxima has and where it’s stored
Maxima is a licensed telecom operator, legally forced to store data about Internet sessions on its network. As a public Wi-Fi operator, Maxima must also identify its users. We do this only once, during the first connection to the Wi-Fi network, identifying the subscriber by phone number.
According to the law, we must store device MAC-address, statistics of connections to particular hotspots, IP addresses, website visits for each gadget. We can also determine the type of browser, the OS of device, and the date and time marks.
Maxima analyzes the socio-demographic characteristics and consumer preferences of users based on data on Ads views, site visits.
We also save user responses to polls during connection Wi-Fi and add the corresponding «tags» to the profiles. This is done to enrich Maxim’s own Big Data system.
Thanks to all this data, we show the most relevant Ads to our users. We use the collected data for advertising targeting.
All the information about devices and Internet sessions is stored on Maxima’s servers. A limited number of company employees whose work is related to data processing has access to it. Moreover, all data is aggregated, anonymized and encrypted.
We share user concerns about their data. Therefore, Maxima consciously restricted the data collection only to the information sufficient for target advertising. This information does not provide personal or confidential data. Maxima does not know the exact age, name, address, sexual preference, race, religious or any other data that is considered confidential.

The right for being «Forgotten»

How does Maxima use user data?
>«One of the ways of public Wi-Fi monetization is Ads. We’re doing our best to make our Ads as relevant and useful as possible — that’s why we collect and analyze data.
>Maxima uses device data strictly for:
- Target advertising;
- Customization of our services;
- Target informing on behalf of metro and the city;
- Observing the law.
>Aggregated data about network usage can be passed to cities and businesses for analytics, but they have no access to personal data.»

Whom does Maxima provide with data?
Maxima provides law enforcement agencies with data about network usage as it is prescribed by the law.
We can share data with advertising agencies for target advertising.
- Isolated identifier, like MAC, without any user data;
- Special anonymized identifiers and aggregated segments with particular characteristics (like sex and age group).
Due to this, external systems and clients cannot identify a phone number or a MAC-address from our Big Data service.
