MaximaTelecom and ER-Telecom Testing New Wi-Fi Monetization in Ekaterinburg and Ulyanovsk

MaximaTelecom has deployed its own authorization and monetization system in the public Wi-Fi network of ER-Telecom Holding in Ekaterinburg and Ulyanovsk. The company expects that the new model will increase revenue from monetization of the partner’s network by nearly 10 times.

The MaximaTelecom MT_FREE platform is deployed on 800 ER-Telecom hotspots in museums, restaurants, educational institutions, markets and other public spaces. As part of the project, hotspots will receive an additional MT_FREE SSID and will be fully switched to MaximTelecom authorization. The companies are considering creating a single Wi-Fi space in 38 more cities across the country. Kvant, a joint venture between Gazprom-Media Holding and MaximaTelecom in the field of advertising technologies, manages advertising monetization of the project.

MaximaTelecom has been developing its own identification, authorization and monetization platform in public Wi-Fi networks since 2013. At present the company manages over 40 000 access points, including the Moscow_Wi-Fi_Free network infrastructure, which is one of the three largest Wi-Fi networks in the world. The Information Technology Department of Moscow, ER-Telecom, and MaximaTelecom have been working together on the infrastructure of this network for more than two years.

“Urban digitalization is a priority for MaximaTelecom. Deployment of public Wi-Fi networks will help implement the Affordable Internet state project and provide free Wi-Fi access to socially important services. Cooperation with partners like ER-Telecom will speed up the implementation of these plans and ensure that the projects will pay off, which is important in the context of business growth and development,” said Boris Volpe, General Director of MaximaTelecom.

“The Internet has long been a social service like electricity or heating in our homes. Our joint project with MaximaTelecom, among other things, solves social problems, providing citizens with free access to socially important Internet services”, – commented Andrey Kuzyayev, President of ER-Telecom Holding JSC.
